Research Findings
-Most collisions with cars happen at intersections
-U.S. has 6 times the fatality rate of Europe due to infrastructure.
-Bicycles and cars are not designed to be on the same roads safely.
Sketches and Iterations
Final Gravity Sketch configuration
3D Models and Renders
Exploded view to help demonstrate assembly.
3D printing and Prototyping
Main proto types were printed with PLA and resin to help get the clear window.
Light simulations to help understand where to put the lights.
concept sketches to just get ideas onto paper
Problem Statement:
Design a light system for bikes that increases the visibility and predictability from the view of an automobile while sharing the road by having common communication through bright lights and blinkers.
The "OoO Bike light" I designed in a sponsored class by Vvolt, an e-bike company. I designed the light to act more like a headlight of a car to promote visibility and predictability on city roads.
Used Gravity Sketch to move blocks around and get an idea of how the lights could be configured
How the blinker system would work.
